New investment firm serves Chattanooga with full range of wealth management services, and donates 100% of fees for two months annually to nonprofits of clients' choosing
Chattanooga, TENN - DeMoss Capital announced today the opening of its offices at 518 Georgia Avenue, bringing experience and expertise to private wealth management and small business retirement plans. From the first day of business, DeMoss Capital also brings a commitment to making Chattanooga and the world a better place, through client and company directed donation of 100% of its fees for two months out of each year, to one of six nonprofit partners.
"As a native Chattanoogan, I have a deep appreciation for what an exciting time it is in the life of our city," says John DeMoss, Chartered Financial Analyst and President of the company. "As someone starting a new business venture, I find myself surrounded by like-minded innovative and successful businesspeople, as well as investors who are approaching their long-term plans for growing and protecting their portfolios in new ways."
During his years consulting with businesses and at area investment firms, DeMoss served a wide variety of entrepreneurs who have grown their companies to the point where they are looking to the long term future of their families. He also saw an increasing number of Chattanoogans who are nearing retirement age and are therefore looking to build portfolios that they will be able to draw from when the time is right. This generally requires a shift in investment objectives from growth to preservation and income, a move about which investors need to be in discussion with a qualified financial advisor.
To serve such clients, he set up DeMoss Capital to offer management and guidance in all aspects of financial planning, including wealth management, corporate retirement plans, support for tax filings and charitable giving, as well as business consulting and financial modeling.
"The job of an investment manager is to guard and grow the interests of each client, according to his or her personal goals," says DeMoss. "We never forget that we are working with another person's money, and with their future. We have been placed in a position of trust. Our company promise is a simple idea: we put the interests of our clients before our own."
However, the most unique feature of DeMoss Capital goes beyond their expertise and transparency, into the ability of the investor-manager relationship to build both a better portfolio and a better world.
"Where we put our money is a very personal decision, and we all want it to reflect all that is best about us as people," he says. "As investment managers, we share these values. So we are putting our own money where our mouth is."
DeMoss Capital, from day one of its opening, is donating 100% of its fees from two months out of every year, to not for profit programs working for humanitarian, and environmental and economic good in Chattanooga and beyond.
At present, seven companies have agreed to partner with DeMoss in this program. Local groups include:
- Crabtree Farms organic farming and research programs;
- Siskin Children's Institute,
- Bethany Christian Services, adoption counseling and placement;
- green|spaces environmentally friendly building initiative;
- Take Root city beautification project;
- First Things First.
Also included is Word Indeed, a Christian nonprofit building and supporting schools, churches and orphanages in Uganda.
"We have decided to donate this portion of the money that we earn as a company, because we believe that people joining together to make our shared world a better place is a rare asset," says DeMoss. "We believe that we can leave the world in better shape than when we found it, and in that spirit, we invite our clients to help us select which nonprofit partner will receive donations, as an act of faith that by starting somewhere together, we can get somewhere even better."
