Chattanooga, Tenn. (March 13, 2009) - DeMoss Capital, Inc. announced today the addition of Kelli O'Brien to their asset management and client advising team. O'Brien's previous experience includes individual management of more than $20 million in private client assets at Merrill Lynch's flagship office in New York.
"Clients need more than what traditional brokerage models provide," says John DeMoss, founder and President of DeMoss Capital. "We are pleased that Kelli's experience and investing acumen led her to a better way of doing business, and to join the DeMoss team."
O'Brien's previous experience includes advising clients on financial planning and asset protection.
She has also managed working capital for corporations to enhance yield on cash, structured retirement plans for publicly traded companies and large privately held businesses, consulted on corporate transition strategies and technology revenue generation.
"The current market was a long time coming, but many asset management companies have been slow to evolve their priorities and their methods," says O'Brien. "Clients are looking for personalized customer service to work to achieve their unique goals, for personal interaction and honest transparency alongside the highest levels of competence. Frankly, this is what I saw in DeMoss Capital, and why I decided to relocate here. DeMoss provides these skills and commitments in ways that speak to clients needs. The firm’s philosophy: the way we treat clients, the integrity with which we do our job, and the idea that business is not just about money but that it is an extension of our beliefs, is the one of the many important factors that drove my decision.”
As Private Client Advisor with DeMoss Capital, O'Brien will work with the company's Chartered Financial Analysts to serve clients in growing net worth, preserving capital or establishing portfolios they can draw from when the time is right.
As a member of the DeMoss team, she will also give 100% of her personally generated fees to nonprofits working to improve the lives of children and the poor, and to community development initiatives in Chattanooga.
"As high net worth investors are forced to cut their giving, due to struggling portfolios, we created a remarkably simple yet innovative way for them to support their favorite nonprofit initiatives indirectly," says DeMoss. "We give of our own fees to the charity of the client's choosing. Our fee-only model makes this possible, transparent, and a win-win situation for our clients and the community that we all share."
A Volunteer Hall of Fame member of Ronald McDonald House Children's Charities and past volunteer with Kids on the Block, Special Olympics, and Candlelighters, O’Brien was recently invited to join the board of the Ronald McDonald House. O'Brien sees the value of the model.
"Again, this is a model that wirehouses and older asset management firms would never consider," she says. "As a result, they are not serving their clients' best interests and best wishes. I am proud to be part of a team that puts our clients and community first."
DeMoss Capital provides wealth management and financial planning services that offer financial and structural advantages to traditional plans.
